FAQs
What should I expect at my first session?
Your first session begins with a detailed conversation about what you’re experiencing and the goals you want to reach. From there, your therapist performs a hands-on assessment, using guided movement and specific techniques to evaluate how your body is functioning and to identify the underlying causes of your symptoms. Together you’ll build a personalized plan, and you’ll leave with a clear understanding of your condition and the first steps toward feeling better.
What do I bring to my first session?
Please bring any referral or prescription you may have, along with any imaging or medical reports related to your visit. Wear or bring comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely during your assessment.
Can I use my insurance to cover my sessions?
Nurture Physical Therapy is an out-of-network practice. While we are not in-network with most providers, we do work with Medicare and Worker’s Compensation. For other plans, we provide detailed invoices (superbills) that you can submit to your insurer for potential reimbursement, and our team is happy to help you navigate your out-of-network benefits.
Here’s how to get started:
- Send us your info. Share your name, insurance, and date of birth via chat or at Hello@nurturept.com so we can verify your coverage.
- Schedule an appointment. Once your benefits are verified and pricing is discussed, our team will help you schedule your first visit.
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows you to move easily. If possible, choose clothing that provides access to the area being treated (for example, shorts for a knee or hip concern, or a tank top for a shoulder concern).

How does a Pelvic Floor PT session go?
Depending on your needs, your therapist may recommend an internal pelvic floor exam (vaginal and/or rectal) if it would be beneficial. Your comfort and consent are always the top priority. Your therapist will explain the process and obtain your permission before any internal exam, and external assessment alternatives are available and can be highly effective.
When performed, the internal exam assesses pelvic floor muscle tone, strength, coordination, tenderness, and overall function, so your care can be tailored precisely to you.
Can I still come to my appointment if I'm menstruating?
Yes. Whether to be treated during your cycle is entirely your choice, and your comfort is the priority. On heavier days, your therapist may shift the focus to external techniques. Each session is individualized to where you are that day.
Can men also benefit from Pelvic Floor PT?
Yes, everyone has a pelvic floor. Pelvic Floor PT can help men with:
- Urinary issues, including incontinence, urgency, and frequency
- Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH / enlarged prostate)
- Post-prostatectomy recovery
- Pelvic pain
- Tailbone (coccyx) pain
